Parties of Moors and Christians in Onil
Onil's principal parties are those of Moors and Christians, beginning on April 22 with the traditional one " nit of them fogueres ", moment in which the neighbors re-join about a bonfire to have dinner together. The following day, at 11 a.m. (9 solar hours) all the colivencos receive to the Virgin of the Health in the street Portal, in order that, forthwith, they accompany her in procession along the village. The same day also celebrates the floral offering to the virgin, who takes place in the evening in the principal Avenue of the municipality.
On the 24th, April 25 and 26, there are small parades protagoniados for two extras every day On The 27th, called " the nit of l'olleta ", celabra a small parade in key of humor in which praticipan all the extras. April 28, day of the entry, begins with the prayer of the angelus in the major square, followed by a "mascletà" and by the contest of bands of music. In the evening, there is celebrated the principal act of the fietas, the entry of Moors and Christians, headed by the Christians and immediately afterwards the Moors. Of April 29 stands out, between other acts, the embassy and " ballà of them banderes " in the major square. On the 30th there are celebrated the so called parade, similar passacaglias to the entry but that is headed by the Moors. Finally, on the 1st, after the guerrilla warfare of arcabucería and the embassy, the castle returns to hands of the Christians. The same day, and in suit of show, all the festeros accompany the mistress of Onil, the Virgin of the Health in procession of return on the hermitage and, when this one finishes, the tradcional goes off castle of fireworks that marks the end of the parties.
Other celebrations related to the Moors and Christians are " mig any ", day in which there is celebrated that only half a year is absent for the parties and the " day of the volta " that commemorates that only is absent one month for the parties.
